Creating a Community of Leadership
Established by the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Orangeburg has provided hundreds of individuals the opportunity to cultivate community knowledge and develop personal leadership skills. It promotes civic responsibility by encouraging involvement, as well as increasing enthusiasm and dedication.
Also, it offers participants the opportunity to:
– Learn more about our community resources, government, businesses, and educational opportunities
– Learn more about the impact of economic development on the community
– Enhance leadership skills
– Exchange ideas and experiences, both formally and informally
– Meet and build relationships with other leaders from many different sectors
– Develop new business contacts within and through the group
The ultimate goal of Leadership Orangeburg is for participants to become actively involved in leadership roles in the community, thus enriching the quality of life and shaping the future. Thus making Orangeburg County a better place to Live, Work and Play.
Who’s a Candidate?
Leadership Orangeburg County is for all emerging and established leaders living or working in Orangeburg County who wish to increase their leadership skills, knowledge, and participation within the community. Applicants should hold a top management position within his/her company, or have the potential to advance to a leadership position. The Selection Committee interviews applicants solicited from all walks of community life to select a class of interested, motivated, and concerned future leaders who have a desire to offer their time and talents to improving their community.
Leadership Orangeburg County consists of one full-day session per month starting in January and ending in November. Participants will be presented a certificate of completion at their “graduation” at our Annual Banquet. Attendance is required for the Orientation and at least seven of the remaining ten monthly sessions. Only two absences are allowed in order to graduate. The program begins at 8:30 am and ends at 4:30 pm on the fourth Thursday of each month with the exception of our State Government Session held in the spring. Each participant must attend one city council, county council and school board meeting in addition to the regular attendance requirements.
Tuition is $500.00 for members for the ten (10) month program. This fee covers all program expenses, including: speaker costs, rental fees and Annual Banquet. Participants in the Chamber’s Community Builders program do receive a discount.
Business casual is considered the appropriate attire. You will receive a shirt with a Leadership Orangeburg County logo upon starting the program. This will be worn to all sessions unless otherwise notified. Please specify your size on the application.
